At the end of this month we have two films for you. The first on 26th January when we will be showing our respect for Holocaust Memorial Day (27th) and will be screening the incredible DUNKIRK (12a).
In May 1940 Allied troops were trapped in Dunkirk during the German advance through France. What happened next is a story that helped shape the world we live in today.
Directed by powerhouse Christopher Nolan, it’s a visceral account from the eyes of a group of soldiers stranded on the beaches at Dunkirk during WW2. Not for the faint hearted, this film packs a punch and has some great acting thrown in for good measure.
Starring Tom Hardy, showing yet again that he can act with his face covered for most of a film (see Batman: The Dark Knight Rises, Mad Max: Fury Road). Also with great performances from Cillian Murphy, Mark Rylance and Kenneth Brannagh and with a powerful score by Hans Zimmer this has got a bit of everything. It cost $100 million dollars to make but made $525 million at the box office and is pegged to win a few awards in this years rounds!
We are running this as a FREE event for all our current members, all you need to do is book yourself a free member ticket and bring your membership card on the night. If you aren’t a member then you can join us for £5 on the night and get your entry for free! (Your membership will then last until the end of September and get you’ll £1 off each of our films until then!).
On the same weekend (Sunday 28th Jan) we we have another kids event with Disney’s Moana (PG).
It’s about an adventurous girl who sail out on a mission to save her people. During her journey, Moana meets the once-mighty demigod Maui (Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson), who guides her in her quest to become a master way-finder. Together they sail across the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous monsters and impossible odds. Along the way, Moana fulfills the ancient quest of her ancestors and discovers the one thing she always sought: her own identity.
The animation team developed a whole new computer system to animate water for this film, plus many of the actors facial movements are designed into the animations so it’s sure to look breath-taking in high definition on our 16 foot screen! We can’t wait, and hope you can join us for one of these awesome films.
Grab your tickets to our next available events here! If any of you out there would like to take the stage and discuss something at one of our events then we are always interested in working with local people and organisations. Just get in touch on our contact page.
