Well it’s that time of year. If your tree isn’t up yet then it soon will be I’m sure! We are all in the festive spirit here at Film at the Folk Hall HQ and gearing up for our Christmas event on Sunday 17th December! This year we will be showing ELF!  We can’t wait. No Christmas is truly complete without watching this modern classic and laughing along at Will Ferrell with a great group of people in our favourite Folk Hall will be so much fun.

Elf follows the journey of Buddy (Will Ferrell) who was accidentally transported to the North Pole as a toddler and raised to adulthood among Santa’s elves. Unable to shake the feeling that he doesn’t fit in, the adult Buddy travels to New York, in full elf uniform, in search of his real father.

Originally Jim Carrey was hoped to play Buddy but we think Will Ferrell’s performance is what made this the smash hit it was! Perhaps it was because Will Ferrell himself was once a ‘Mall Santa’ which gave him the right to scream… ‘SANTA! I KNOW HIM!’. He has point blank refused to make a sequel to Elf unfortunately, despite being offered $29 million to do so! Luckily for us the first one is still so good it doesn’t get old!

Tickets are at the usual low cost of £4 adults, £3 members and £2 children! To keep any restless little ones busy we will also be making some Christmas tree decorations too. Doors and crafts from 2pm then the film starts at 2:30pm.

FANCY DRESS AND CHRISTMAS JUMPERS ARE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED (but not obligatory!)

See you there!
