While the original series was a little before my time, I do remember my parents and grandparents both watching it when I was a child. I also remember how they laughed and how much they loved it. So it’s with great anticipation that we bring you the Dad’s Army movie. It’s set in 1944 toward the end of the second world war, after the events in the original and focuses on Catherine Zeta Jones’ character, a journalist sent to report on the Wilmington-on-sea Home Guard Platoon.

With a stellar cast this is sure to be a great evening and jolly good giggle. We have made it a themed evening with 40’s and military dress most welcome. The Film at the Folk Hall team will be dressing up in period dress for the screening and we’d like to encourage our audience to do the same.
The doors will also be open from the earlier time of 6.30pm to give you a chance to see artefacts and photographs from the period, displayed in the Folk Hall as part of a mini-exhibition, including images of York’s very own ‘Dad’s Army’.
If you have any photographs or memorabilia you would like to loan to us for our exhibition then please get in touch or bring it along to the screening – click here for ways you can contact us!
Buy your tickets early, this will be a sell out. Click here for your ticket information.
