We like to put something fiendish on for you in October! We’ve obviously missed the mark over the last two Halloweens and we don’t mind admitting it when we get it wrong. So earlier this year we decided to ask our audience to help us pick from a selection of fantastic films. With questionnaires and a Facebook poll in June our audience have now decided that on Friday 27th October we will be enjoying Hitchcock’s timeless classic ‘Psycho’ (1960).
It follows secretary Marion Crane (Janet Leigh), who goes on the run with her boyfriend after stealing from her employer. She decides to stop at a motel during a heavy storm where she meets the polite but highly strung proprietor Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins), a young man with an interest in taxidermy and a difficult relationship with his mother.
With genre defining suspense and some iconic scenes, the film also boasts a memorable score. Hitchcock famously said “33% of the effect of Psycho was the music”. As well as being his first horror film it was also his highest grossing movie and we can’t wait to enjoy his artistry in all its glory with you on our big screen!
Following this we will have ‘Dirty Dancing’ on the 24th November and our kid friendly ‘Elf’ matinee on Sunday 17th December. We are also already considering our next season of films for you and working with some new volunteers to keep trying to improve our service. We’d love to hear ideas from you, whether you’ve been before or not. We exist primarily for local residents and we need you to keep us going so feel free to get in touch at filmfolkhall@hotmail.com or 07891 47463.
You can get tickets the usual way from the Folk Hall or online from our website http://www.filmfolkhall.com and now on Facebook too!
We look forward to seeing you soon.
Sam and the team!
